STOCK MARKET BEARISH -- SHORT -- CAUTION

Keybot the Quant remains short after another crazy week with election drama, and indexes going in all directions. Donnie Trump was stuffed last Tuesday in a major drubbing of the republicans. Democrats took control of Congress (House and Senate). The elephants were beaten like rented mules.

The bulls were flexing muscles at the start of the week pumping copper and utilities higher, but that did not last long, and then commodities failed. Everything got flushed down the toilet with a mini-crash.

The bears remain in charge of the stock market but the algo number is only 18 points below the signal line that is nothing to write home about. It is another tag-team cage match to see who controls the week ahead. Banks and the NYA index are in the bull camp keeping stocks buoyant while commodities and utilities are in the bear camp creating negativity. One of the four will flinch and expose the path forward.

The bears need XLF below 55.95 and/or the NYA index below 23520. Either one will create another strong leg lower for stocks and if both turn bearish, stocks will be in freefall. Banks will need to drop -2.1% and the NYA -1.8% to create carnage.

The bulls need GTX above 5944 and/or UTIL, or DJU, above 1112.90. Either one turning bullish will immediately stop any more downside in the stock market. If they remain bearish, that spells trouble ahead for the stock market. You can check commodities and utilities on stockcharts.com with $GTX and $UTIL. If utes rally and UTIL then crosses above 1121.64, it is par-tay time for the longs. Stocks will be rallying big time.

One of the two turning bullish may not be enough to flip the quant long. Both turning bullish would definitely be enough. If one parameter turns bullish, then after a few minutes or short while, turns bearish, then bullish again, dancing to and fro along the line in the sand, that indicates the robot is using that parameter to jog forward and try to flip the model long based on only one parameter turning bullish. Is that clear as mud?

Stronger copper and lower volatility will also help bulls. Weaker retail stocks will help bears. Keybot the Quant does not print any prescheduled numbers this week. Which of the four metrics above will flinch first? You can check copper futures and volatility overnight. Check XLF in the premarket. Inflation data and lots of Fed speak on tap this week. Don't Speak. Sometimes when Gwen sings it sounds like she is talking baby talk.
