Keybot the Quant flips to the bull side at munch time today at SPX 7175. Just when the bears thought they had staved off the bulls after a few-day struggle, thwack, the bulls win. The algo number is only 6 points above the signal line but it was enough to position the quant to go long and the internal parameters ratcheted closed allowing the move.
The SPX prints a new all-time high at 7219.83 and new all-time closing high at 7209.01.
Retail stocks jumped higher after the opening bell so you knew the fix was in. The corrupt politicians agreed to a resolution on the government shutdown creating an orgy rally after lunchtime. Government Mule, and Warren Haines singing Soulshine, is a better government to follow. He's playing a Martin, handmade in Pennsylvania.
Bears are shell-shocked with a bandage on their heads. The bulls wanted the ball and now they have it. Let's see what they got. As long as they keep retail stocks, banks and copper heading higher, and volatility lower, they have it made. Any crack in these four metrics will reopen the door for the bears.
On the last trade that ran for a week, the quant program loses a percent and the actual trading loses a couple percent. It is more whipsaw choppy slop the hallmark of 2026. For the year thus far with 4 months in the bag, one-third of the year, the benchmark S&P 500 is up about +5% with the bulls puffing their chests out and cheering. The algorithm program is up +3% on the year thus far with the actual trading, generated by the quant, flatter than a newlywed's souffle. Keybot the Quant exited PSQ and entered SSO returning to the higher-risk 2x ETF's since the whipsaw timer has expired.
